Midway, Utah

—- Weather and Schedule Updates  (as of 2/16) ——

We are getting a lot of questions about the warm weather. Here are the most common:

When will you close?  Monday 2/17 will be the last day for the Ice Castle in Midway, UT.   Please understand that changing weather forecasts make it really hard to predict how long we can remain open and that the past two weeks have been unseasonably warm.

When is the best time to come: This time of the season the best time is to come after dark, which is after 7pm.  We will stay open as long as we have people in line.

What to expect: If you come at a time that the temperatures are above freezing you can expect to be dripped on. If there are not many clouds and the sun is out, there will be more drips.

What should I wear? Boots with good traction.  Warm weather and especially rain will render the walking paths much more slippery than normal.  We highly recommend good boots.

Will warm weather cause icicles to fall?  Because of people’s experience with icicles falling off roofs, many people wonder if icicles at the Ice Castle will fall on them. It is not normal for icicles to fall. The reason is that icicles will actually melt from the bottom up.

I bought tickets through Groupon and won’t make it Monday, can I still use them?  Yes.  We will honor the tickets that you were not able to use this year at next year’s Ice Castle.
